Actor Heath Ledger Found Dead

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I was about to sleep this afternoon when I heard the news from the television that actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his apartment in Manhattan, New York. Though I was sleepy still, I then managed to went outside and was shocked with what i saw. I never really expected that he passed away so soon. Just week ago, when i watched his movie Brokeback Mountain (via the internet), which I can say, he did a very well acting job.

The cause of his death is still unknown, though there are sleeping pills that were found near his dead naked body on the floor.

According to the news:

The body was found naked and face-down on the floor of his bedroom by a housekeeper about 3.30pm Tuesday (7.30am Melbourne time).

”There were pills within the vicinity of the bed,” Mr Browne said.

But he stressed that pills were not scattered around Ledger’s body, as had been previously reported.

“There were some prescription medications that included sleeping pills,” he said.

The 28-year-old actor, who had reportedly been ill with pneumonia, had an appointment for a massage at the apartment, which is believed to be his home in Soho in Manhattan.

The housekeeper went to tell Ledger the masseuse had arrived and found him naked and unconscious at the foot of his bed.

May you rest in peace Mr. Ledger, farewell to you…

Yahoo! Inc. to lay off hundreds

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Battered by slow revenue growth and the popularity of social networking Web sites, Yahoo! Inc. is poised to lay off hundreds of workers, according to published reports.

The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal have both reported on the slumping Internet icon’s cost-cutting plans, citing people familiar with the matter.

Precisely how many of Yahoo’s roughly 14,000 employees will lose their jobs hasn’t been determined, the newspapers said. A final decision could be announced Jan. 29 when Yahoo executives are scheduled to review the Sunnyvale-based company’s fourth-quarter results.

If several hundred employees are dumped, it will mark Yahoo’s most extensive layoffs since 2001 when the company was trying to battle back from the dot-com bust.

The payroll purge was first reported over the weekend by Silicon Alley Insider, a blog focused on investments in technology and media. The blog said Yahoo had drawn up a list of 1,500 to 2,500 jobs that could be eliminated, but Monday’s reports indicated management doesn’t expect the cuts to be that deep.

A Yahoo spokeswoman didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment.

It Takes Two-Wheels

Two blue bikes of my brothers and a yellow one borrowed from my cousin

One of the facts about me, is that I don’t know how to ride a bicycle. Sometimes, i envy my brothers, for they can stroll around the area just by biking. Plus they have new bikes! They even criticize me for not having the ability to do so. Huhuhu

They say biking is a good exercise, but not to me. If only, i learned how to bike when i was young, then maybe i will be able to bike all day long. *Sigh* Sometimes i keep on blaming my brothers, ’cause they didn’t teach me when we’re still young. They say, it’s just two wheels! Ok yes i know, just two wheels..but i’m so afraid of falling and could harm my legs! hehehehe…

I guess, it’s all about taking the challenge. That’s when i thought of buying a bike of my own, smaller and not so high. They used moutain bikes though, so they’re quite high for me.

Anyway, here’s the pics taken with my brothers’ mountain bikes while I’m on my cousin’s bike…

See the hand of my brother holding my bike? Hehehe he knew i might fall. ^_^

My brother again supported the bike through his legs..hehehehe (just dont mind the clothes hanging and my bro’s body! eewww! hahaha)

Facts about Watermelon

3 of 5 Watermelons that we bought

Few days ago my brother was craving so bad to watermelon. Just this Saturday when he was so deeply depressed to have eat watermelon. So we ended up riding on a bike and bought 5 watermelons!

We ate 3 of them while putting the rest on the fridge ’cause they are really good to be eaten when they’re cold. I not a huge fan of watermelons but i do like to eat them. Just a coincidence, i guess, that night i was reading a magazine and i stumbled on a page saying that watermelons are good source of lycopene. Lycopene which according to wikipedia is the most powerful carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen[1], being 100 times more efficient in the singlet-oxygen quenching action than Vitamin E, which in turn has 125 times the quenching action of glutathione (water soluble).

I never knew that fact then. So i searched it over the internet and found this interesting fact about watermelons.

A one-cup serving of watermelon will provide around 48 Calories. Watermelon is an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A, with one serving containing 14.59 mg of vitamin C and 556.32 IU of vitamin A. Watermelon also provides significant amounts of vitamin B6 and vitamin B1, as well as the minerals potassium and magnesium. Pink watermelon is also a source of the potent carotenoid antioxidant, lycopene. The amino acid citrulline was first extracted from watermelon and analysed.[5] Watermelons contain a significant amount of citrulline and after consumption of several kg an elevated concentration is measured in the blood plasma, this could be mistaken for citrullinaemia or other urea cycle disorder.

1 Huge Box of Guylian Chocolate

This is my response to a very sweet letter from Chocolate

Dear Chocolate,

When my father gave me a box of you few days ago, you know you got me…again! You came to me with a huge box and full of different figures. You came in your another nickname GuyLian: The World’s Favorite Belgian Chocolates. And no matter what nickname will you use, you are still the same chocolate that i love. How I love to eat those seashells, butterflies, hearts and different kinds of designs for all day long. But i still have more of you, that’s why i bring some here in the office….^_^

You made me a lot sweeter than any ordinary days. You know that I always crave for you, not just the way you taste, but the way people molded you, the way they designed you. You are my favorite and my ever favorite dessert (and you know that). I know I sometimes get paranoid thinking you make me fat, but I hope you understand…

Whatever bad things im saying against you, please just understand. Thanks to my father for giving me to you. You always taste the same (so sweet!)

Just stay as sweet as you are! You are always welcome to me…

Love,

Bevs

A very inspiring letter from a very sweet companion. ^_^

Dear Bevs,

Thank you for loving me as i am. I know you find me very sweet and loving. There are times when you hate me and you never talk to me [eat me] anymore. But i understand, i know you are just concern of your weight! Coz you are thinking i am responsible of making you fat! But that’s not true… And you know that.

I know no matter how you deny the fact, i am still one of those who put smile on your face. I am just here for you everytime you need something to talk to, errrr to eat.

Thank you for loving me and you know I always care and i’m always concern with your weight!

Love,

Chocolate
